Biographical / Historical

Marthe Jocelyn was born in 1956 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A writer and illustrator, Jocelyn has also been the owner of a toy and clothing design firm, a cookie seller, waitress, sailor, and photo stylist. She has written a number of early chapter books, young-adult novels, and picture books illustrated by both herself and her husband, artist Tom Slaughter. She has won a number of awards for her books, including Mable Riley, a middle-grade novel inspired by the discovery of a diary kept by Jocelyn's grandmother, Mable Rose. Jocelyn lives in New York with her two children.
