Paul Desmond Brown was an American artist and illustrator best known for his illustrations of horses and equestrians. He was born in 1893 and died in 1958.

Paul Brown initiated the collection by donating in 1948. His widow, Harriet Brown, made additional contributions after his death in 1958.
