Biographical / Historical

Beth Krommes is a Caldecott-award winning illustrator, artist, and pattern designer. She was born in 1959 and grew up in Pennsylvania. She has earned a BFA in painting from Syracuse University, an MFA in art education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and an AAS in textile and surface design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Her book The House in the Night, written by Susan Marie Swanson, won the Caldecott Award in 2009. She lives in New Hampshire.
