Biographical / Historical

Virginia Kahl was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1919. She was a librarian and children’s book author and illustrator. Virginia worked as a librarian with the US Army in Germany and Austria, and eventually moved to the Washington DC area where she was a branch librarian in Alexandria, Virginia. She wrote and illustrated numerous books in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. She worked in the DC area until her retirement in 1993 and passed away in 2004.
