This collection contains promotional material and book-specific merchandise such as journals, advertisement posters, notepads, pens, bags and catalogs as well as proofs, notes, F & Gs, correspondence and other publishing material from 12 different authors and creators who worked with editor Charles Kochman at Abrams Books. Biographical / Historical
Abrams books was founded in 1949, and was the first company in the United States to specialize in publishing art and illustrated books. The company is now a subsidiary of La Martinière Groupe and still publishes material in the areas of art, photography, cooking, craft, comics, interior and garden design, entertainment, fashion, popular culture, young adult fiction, children’s books, and board books.
Charles Kochman has worked at Abrams Books since 2005. He is the editorial director of Abrams ComicArts and editor of the #1 bestselling series Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. Koachman has edited numerous works during his tenure at Abrams. Prior to Abrams, he spent twelve years working at DC Comics and MAD Magazine. He has also worked at PlayValue books, an imprint of G.P. Putnam’s Sons and Bantam Books. He graduated from Brooklyn College in 1985 with a BA in children’s literature.
