Scope and Contents

The collection contains drafts, contracts, correspondence, and related material for the nonfiction children's books Karts and Yosemite, and short stories and programs written by Cazin for educational software programs in the 1990s, as well as the software that featured her work (programs from Josten's Learning and Ideal Learning--Lifetouch). The collection also contains drafts and correspondence for a chapter Cazin wrote which was featured in a book on the history of the city of Bloomington, called Bloomington on the Minnesota, as well as a CD featuring scans of articles Cazin wrote in the 1950s for the Bloomington Sun and Bird Island Union, and a photograph of the author.

Biographical / Historical

Lorraine Jolian Cazin was born May 1, 1928 to Frank and Mabel Jolian. She studied at Good Counsel Academy in Mankato, Normandale Community College, and Metropolitan State University, where she received a degree in creative writing. Cazin wrote several nonfiction books for children, including Karts and Yosemite. In addition, she was a scriptwriter for KSTP TV and belonged to the National League of American Pen Women. Cazin was married to Joseph Cazin, with whom she had two children, Sara and David. Cazin died July 12, 2011.
