Biographical / Historical
Barbara McClintock was born in Clinton, New Jersey, and grew up in New Jersey and North Dakota. She attended Jamestown College, North Dakota, before moving to New York City to pursue a career in children's literature. She eventually began illustrating books for Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock series, before publishing the children's book The Heartaches of a French Cat, which earned a New York Times Best Book award. Since then, she has published numerous books for children, many of which are set in the past. She lives in Connecticut.
