Rev. Casimir A. Cieslewicz papers
Abstract
Collection consists of two scrapbooks compiled by Rev. Cieslewicz containing newspaper clippings, letters, handwritten notes, event flyers, reports, drafts of sermons and other materials documenting the history of St. John the Baptist Church in Virginia, Minnesota and the life of the Roman Catholic parish. Also included is the "1965 Financial Report of St. John the Baptist Church, Virginia, Minnesota."

HISTORICAL SKETCH
Rev. Casimir A. Cieslewicz (September 18, 1897 - July 1, 1974), born in Chicago, studied theology at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, Michigan, ordained in 1923 in Duluth, Minnesota. After ordination, Father Cieslewicz spent one one year at St. Casimir's in Cloquet and in missions around the Duluth Diocese. He was appointed the pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in Virginia, Minnesota in March 1924. He served there until his retirement in 1966.
