Abstract

Records (1890-1947) of the national Matica Slovenska (Martin, Slovakia), consist of correspondence between Slovaks in the United States and Canada with leaders in Slovakia. Correspondents include representatives of the National Slovak Society of the United States, and Slovaks from Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, and other states. Topics include the Slovak American press, businesses, and steamship companies and railroads. Also included is a listing of the institute's holdings pertaining to Slovak Americans.
