Frank. Zaffiro papers
Abstract
Papers (1926-1955) of Frank Zaffiro consist of a release document from the Fredericton Internment Camp (Canada), and Order Sons of Italy in America materials including an Ontario convention booklet, OSIA Trieste No. 1002 letter re the death of Queen Margherita, an inauguration booklet of the Roma Lodge, and a photograph of the Ontario Grand Convention (1926).

HISTORICAL SKETCH
Frank Zaffiro was born in Racalmuto, Sicily and in 1923 journeyed to Hamilton, Ontario, where many Racalmutese had settled. Two years later he became active in the Order Sons of Italy in America and the Casa D'Italia in Hamilton. Zaffiro and the other officers of the Ontario Grand Lodge were interned by the Canadian government in 1940 following the declartions of war between the United Kingdom and Italy. Zaffiro was released in 1943.
