Abstract

Papers of Al LaMagna consist of materials pertaining to the Order Sons of Italy in America. Included are a Distinguished Service Award certificate from the Pennsylvania Grand Lodge, and artifacts include Pennsylvania Grand Lodge officer title and emblem pins, wooden gavels, a Nuova Vittorio Emanuele No. 901 banner, and an Italian flag.

HISTORICAL SKETCH

Al LaMagna was born in Enna, Sicily. He has served the Order Sons of Italy in America as a member of the National Council, Supreme Trustee (1979-1983), and State Trustee of the Pennsylvania Grand Lodge (1965-1971, 1973-1979). He and his father were members of the Nuova Vittorio Emanuele II Lodge No. 901 (Pittsburgh, Pa.). In 1942, the name of that lodge was changed to East Liberty, and in 1965 it merged with Pittsburgh Lodge No. 74.
