Abstract
The Puntus papers (0.5 linear ft., ca. 1930-1990) consist of correspondence, official documents of various organizations, photographs, periodical clippings, posters and memorabilia related to Belarus and the Belarusian-American community.

HISTORICAL SKETCH
Vasil (William) Puntus was a Belarusian-American activist born March 29, 1920 in Astashkevichy, Homel region in Belarus. He emigrated to the United States after World War II and settled down in Chicago, Illinois. He was a chairman of the Belarusian Coordinating Committee of Chicago (1973 - 1983), member of the Belarusan American Congress Committee, founding member and a school teacher at St. George's Belarusian Orthodox Church. He passed away in Syracuse, Indiana on July 7, 1989.

ORGANIZATION OF MATERIALS
The collection is organized into two basic categories: I. Materials related to the history of Belarusian-American organizations (Series 1). II. Family correspondence and miscellaneous materials (Series 2).
PROVENANCE
Collection acquired from Kaciaryna Puntus of Indiana in 1994. It was processed in April 2013 by Ihar Labacevich who also created and encoded the finding aid.
