HISTORICAL SKETCH

Jan. 15. 1914 Päärdu village, Velise parish, Läänemaa county, Estonia - Jan. 22. 1990 Oceanside, NY, USA1927-1932 studied in Tallinn Technical School (Tallinna Tehnikum) in Estonia, Military School of the Republic of Estonia (Eesti Vabariigi Sõjakool), officer course. Was promoted as ensign in 02.10 1936, graduated from the Military School officer course infantry class in 15.08 1937 and was transferred to Pioneer Battalion, promoted as second lieutenant in 18.02 1938. 1944 emigrated to Germany, later to USA, where he graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. Worked as a senior engineer in American Electric Power. Council member of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church's St. Paul congregation in New York. Archive consists of 6 folders.

PROVENANCE

Collection transferred to the IHRC from the Estonian Archives in the U.S.A. (EAU) in 2003-2005. It was processed as part of a collaborative project between the Estonian Archives in the USA (Lakewood, New Jersey), the National Archives of Estonia (NAE), and the IHRC in March 2012. Gristel Ramler and Tiina Trumberg of the National Archives in Tallinn, Estonia, worked with IHRC staff on the project.
