HISTORICAL SKETCH
Geologist, Ph.D.Leetaru has worked in Illinois Geological Survey Bedrock Geology Industrial Minerals and Resource Economics Energy and Earth Resources Center. Leetaru has a BS degree in geology from the State University of New York at Fredonia, an MS degree from Syracuse University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. He has worked as a petroleum geologist with Getty Oil Company and Union Pacific Resources in Houston, Texas. He has been involved in exploration and development projects in the East Texas and West Texas basins, and the Hugoton Embayment of Kansas. Has been a petroleum geologist at the Illinois State Geological Survey for the last 15 years. During his tenure at the ISGS, he has published more than 40 articles, workshop notes, and state survey publications and has also been an author or co-author on more than 50 abstracts and contract reports.Father: Edmund Leetaru (20.03.1910 Tallinn, Estonia – 13.07.1995 New York, USA)Mother: Ilse Leetaru (nee Kõpper)Published:Digenesis and reservoir quality of the Upper Mississippian Aux Vases Sandstone, Illinois Basin / Janet K. PROVENANCE
Collection transferred to the IHRC from the Estonian Archives in the U.S.A. (EAU) in 2003-2005. It was processed as part of a collaborative project between the Estonian Archives in the USA (Lakewood, New Jersey), the National Archives of Estonia (NAE), and the IHRC in March 2012. Gristel Ramler and Tiina Trumberg of the National Archives in Tallinn, Estonia, worked with IHRC staff on the project.
