HISTORICAL SKETCH
The Military School of the Estonian Republic (from 1921 named simply Military School) was founded in 1919. The Technical Military School of the Estonian Republic was founded in 1920 but was in 1923 merged with the Estonian Military School, which in October 1923 became a unit of the United Military Schools (from 1936 named simply Military Schools). The latter was reorganized into the Infantry School of the Red Army in 1940.

PROVENANCE
Collection transferred to the IHRC from the Estonian Archives in the U.S.A. (EAU) in 2003-2005. It was processed as part of a collaborative project between the Estonian Archives in the USA (Lakewood, New Jersey), the National Archives of Estonia (NAE), and the IHRC in March 2010. Margit Laanemets and Kristel Tammik of the National Archives in Tallinn, Estonia, worked with IHRC staff on the project.
