BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Indrikis Ekis was born in 1886 in Leipaja, Latvia. Before 1918, he joined the French Foreign Legion as a medic and travelled to South Africa to fight in the Boer War. After he returned to Latvia, he married and worked as a laborer. Fought in the Latvian resistance against the Soviet Union during World War II. After the war immigrated to the United States and settled in Omaha, Nebraska. Active in local Latvian American organizations. Died in 1984.
