Abstract

Collection contains biographical information about Reinhold and Aino Nomman, active members of New York and New Jersey Estonian society. Three folders contain obituaries, minutes of the board meetings at Estonian Archives in Lakewood.

HISTORICAL SKETCH

Reinhold Nomman was born in St.Petersburg, Russia on August 1912, died on January 17. 1999 in Lakewood, New Jersey. He was active member of the Estonian Archives in the USA, particularly with the photo collaction, and served as a board member and treasurer. A member of Estonain Evangelical Lutheran Congregation of Holy Spirit in Lakewood, New Jersey. Aino Nomman (born Klaassen) was born 1911 in Parnu, Estonia but their family moved to Ukraine due to her father's job. Arrived back in Estonia in 1918. Aino enrolled in University of Tartu in 1929, graduating with a four year degree (exhilerated inot 3 yrs) with a degree in finance. !korp Filiae Patriae member (a sorority). Escaped WWII via Austria, settling in the New York area in the USA. Enrolled in dental hygenist course and worked at a dentist office. !Korp Filiae Patriae vicepresident from 1968-1971. Reinhold and Aino purchased " a country house" and moved to The "Flower Village" section of Lakewood, New Jersey for theor retirement, becoming active members of the Estonian Archives, the private photo collections of local Estonians becoming their particular project.

PROVENANCE

Collection acquired from the Estonian Archives in the U.S.A., Lakewood, New Jersey, in 2003-2005. It was processed by Ave Maria Blithe in 2013.
