Biographical Note
J. Thomas Maher III graduated with his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois in 1963. He also attended Layton School of Art, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Alumni College of Tuscany in Cortona, Italy.
Beginning in 1974, Maher became the president of his own firm, Maher and Sazama Architects. He worked as a chief designer or principal in charge of projects in the area of historic restorations, renovations, and new buildings comprised of convention centers and facilities for entertainment; hotels and meetings; office complexes; and health complexes comprised of hospitals, clinics, mental health facilities and ambulatory health care facilities. Maher began his firm Maher and Associates Architects in 1983, whose practice received local, state, and national attention.
