Biographical Note

Beverly Wachsmuth was born in 1930 in Minneapolis and studied at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the University of Minnesota. Her professional career began with a position with Dayton's department store. She became an interior designer with Farnham's and then in 1962 accepted the position of Corporate Interior Designer with the Xerox Corporation. She became the first woman to direct the total interior design efforts of a major U.S. corporation.

In 1966 she became president of Wachsmuth and Associates, Inc. and expanded her interior design focus to include product development, textile design, and fine arts programs. Seeking to return to Minneapolis, Ms. Wachsmuth opened a new interior design office here in 1981. She died in 1994.
