The collection comprises architectural drawings and sketches for projects with ENVIRON Corporation, Housing Systems Assoc., and Housing Systems Corp. Also included are sketches from student work, work from Batorewicz's early association with established architects, Batorewicz's later job files and proposals, and copies of publications by and about her. Photographs included in the collection are of Batorewicz's work, her projects, and travel in Europe.

Biographical Sketch for Valeria Stupnitsky Batorewicz

Valeria Stupnitsky Batorewicz was born in Kharkov and moved with her family to Bavaria, Venezuela and Minneapolis. She attended the University of Caracas and University of Minnesota's schools of architecture, graduating from the latter in 1959 with distinction. With a Fulbright Fellowship she spent a year in Spain, studying the history of architecture, and returned to the U.S. to take her Master's (Environmental Design with honors) from Yale in 1969. In 1968 she received a Yale University grant to study housing problems, followed by further grants to develop experimental housing systems for low and moderate income families. Batorewicz founded and headed ENVIRON Corporation, Housing Systems Assoc., and Housing Systems Corp. to develop and test fiberglass and urethane foam sandwich prefabricated building systems, working in cooperation with commercial developers.
