Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of compact discs from Newhouse's one-hour MPR program: A Century in Sound. The Minnesota Orchestra Turns 100. Included are copies of the final, one-hour broadcast plus recorded interviews and other source materials for the broadcast.

Biographical Note

Brian Newhouse is the former host of Minnesota Orchestra broadcasts on Minnesota Public Radio. He holds degrees in both voice and English from Luther College and had an active singing career alongside his work with the radio. He and his colleges were involved in an outreach program to provide musical education to over 130,000 students across Minnesota. He won a Peabody award for writing the radio documentary, The Mississippi: River of Song. He's also the author of a memoir, A Crossing.
