Historical note
3 Legged Race New Theatre and Performance of Minneapolis was founded in 1996 by former Playwright’s Center Executive Director Dave Moore, Jr. to promote new works that focused on the underground of the performing arts—puppeteering, performance art, new dance, and circus arts, primarily.
The theater’s performances featured more than 75 short pieces by local and national artists, as well as original full length works specially commissioned by the theater. 3 Legged Race also sponsored artist workshops and produced works in progress. The 3 Legged Race New Theatre and Performance closed in 2003.
