Biographical / Historical
Molly Davies is a videographer. She started making experimental films in the late sixties and became well-known in the seventies for her work with film and performance and collaborations with contemporary choreographers, composers and performers. She has collaborated with people such as John Cage, David Tudor, Lou Harrison, and Jackie Matisse. Prominent examples of her work include her collaboration with David Tudor and Jackie Matisse, Sea Tails. She is on the board of directors of the non-profit art and performance space, The Kitchen. Davies also teaches courses in design for inter-media performances at Universities in the United States, Europe and Asia. Her work has been presented at the Venice Film Festival, the Centre Pompidou, the Walker Art Center, the Paris Museum of Modern Art, the Musée d'art contemporain de Lyon, The Getty, the Whitney Museum, the Asia Society, Theatre Am Turm, The Kitchen, Dance Theater Workshop, La MaMa Experimental Theater Club, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival and the Indonesian Dance Festival.
