Scope and Contents

The collection contains personal and professional correspondence written by and sent to Irina Lasoff; her handwritten and typed teaching notes; programs, flyers, and other promotional materials; photographs of performances; press clippings; a copy of her 1991 interview in the Minnesota Dance Alliance newsletter; and the spring 1937 issue of The Maze, published by the May School, in which she contributed an article. Also included is a copy of the articles of incorporation for Lasoff and Dean Dance Associates, the company she founded with Rell Dean.

Biographical / Historical

Born in Russia on Dec. 12, 1918, Irina Lasoff had a long career in the Twin Cities as a modern dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher. She danced and choreographed at the Guild of Performing Arts, was artistic director of Choreogram and was co-founder of the Lasoff-Dean Dance Company. Lasoff passed away on April 26, 2006 after a battle with Parkinson's.
