The collection consists primarily of papers dealing with the 59th, 60th, 61st, 62nd, and 63rd legislative districts of the state of Minnesota, the 9th state senate district, St. Louis County, plus a small amount of material dealing with state and national politics. It contains administrative records, campaign material, subject files, publications and newspaper clippings.
The collection contains Duluth election data of all candidates of all parties down to the ward level from the years 1896, 1912, 1920, and 1924 compiled from returns published in newspapers and other political and labor history sources. The collection also holds Minnesota governor election results from Duluth for 1896-1934.
The collection includes 2 slide presentations; personal letters from 1968-2003; letters to and from politicians including John A. Blatnik, President Richard Nixon, MN Governor Anderson, District 8 representative Jim Oberstar, and Senator Walter Mondale; information on Lake Superior Conferences, City of Duluth Legislation, BWCA legislation, the Lake Superior Water quality, and Wet Lands Action Program.
