Arrowhead Poetry Society records
This collection consists of published poems and biographical information by and about the members of the Arrowhead Poetry Society. There are no original manuscripts in the collection; all of the poems are clipped from printed sources or contained in booklets where they were originally printed.
Arrowhead Reading Council records
The records consist of by-laws and constitution (1958-1985), a brief history of the organization and a list of past presidents and members, summary financial information, correspondence (1960-1970s), minutes of executive and business meetings (1957-2010, gaps), newsletters (1960-2010, gaps), files on sponsored and attended programs and other meetings or events. There is a Minnesota Reading Council file (1961-1983), and a set of certificates of honors and president’s club awards.
Arrowhead Regional Arts Council records
The collection contains Arrowhead Regional Arts Council board minutes 1976-2012, annual reports and plans, press releases giving results of grants recommended for funding, newsletters, guidelines and development materials for the Council as a grants agency, funded grant applications, applications that were not funded, brochures, a videorecording of a meeting held in Cloquet, Minnesota September 9, 1985, and a few videorecordings of funded activities.
Arrowhead Servicemen's Last Man's Club records
The records consist of the history and activity of the Coast Artillery Corps, biographical and obituary information and notices of members, clippings, photographs, and annual meeting notices and bulletins.
Arrowhead System Council of Library Directors records
The collection contains by-laws, minutes, budget requests, monthly reports, and memos.
Astor Trading Post dedication certificate
The rebuilt John Jacob Astor Trading Post at Fond du Lac, Minnesota, was dedicated at Fond du Lac on Sunday, August 4, 1935. The two items comprising this small collection include the letter inviting Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Astor (Lord and Lady Astor, Mr. and Mrs. John Jacob Astor, III) to the dedication and the certificate presented to a member of the Astor family on that occasion from the governor of Minnesota, Floyd B. Olson.
Atwood Family vacation photographs
The collection consists of 24 black and white photographs of the Duluth Aerial Bridge, North Shore scenes, Kakabeka Falls of Ontario, Canada, Grand Marais, Temperance River, ore boats, Split Rock Lighthouse, Gun Flint Trail, and others.
Aurora Northland Lesbian Center records

Babbit, Minnesota and Mesabi Iron Company Sinter Plant photograph collection
The collection consists of 60 photographs of the town of Babbitt, Minnesota and the sinter plant of the Mesabi Iron Company.
Ida Baker school register
The collection consists of a school register from the 1882-1883 school year kept by teacher Ida Baker for the West Third Street school in Duluth, which lists students' names and their attendance.
Reverend Frederic Baraga papers
The collection consists of photocopies or carbon copies of typed transcriptions. Papers are divided into three folders. Folders one and two contain correspondence from 1835 to 1847, from and pertaining to Reverend Baraga. Folder three contains Baraga's personal diary, the majority of which is written in German.
Durant Barclay, Jr. industrial photographs
The collection consists of industrial photographs taken by the donor during the duration of his studio's operation in Virginia, Minnesota which closed in 1956. Mr. Barclay continued shooting for industrial clients through 1963.
James Bardon land patent letters
The collection consists of two documents. One notes receipt of $148 by James Bardon from P. J. Peterson in payment for land patents in the name of James Starkey and Peter J. Peterson. The other is a letter to Starkey and Peterson from Bardon confirming that the payment was received by the land office and informing them that they now have "full authority to cut timber and do as you please with the land."
Richard Bardon collection of letters from Fond du Lac, Minnesota
Typed copies of letters loaned to the St. Louis County Historical Society for copying in 1931. The letters were "...found at Fond du Lac by Dr. Richard Bardon four or five years ago." according to a memoranda from the St. Louis County Historical Society president January 29, 1931, copied by Helen J. Peterson, St. Louis County Historical Society office staff, February 5, 1931.
Richard Bardon papers
The collection contains five photocopied letters, typed copies of four of those letters, and an “Alphabetical Rhyme on Names of Early Residents”.
Julius H. Barnes papers
The collection contains correspondence, financial materials, articles, pamphlets, photographs, news clippings, sketchbooks, a tape recording, and miscellaneous reference materials. Most of the records originate from the period between 1940-1958 and document Barnes' financial interests and his involvement in the St. Lawrence Seaway project. Some personal correspondence is also included.
George G. Barnum, Sr. Civil War letters
The collection consists of letters from Barnum to his parents, sisters and brothers. Seven of the items are not written by George Barnum, Sr., of those seven, four are letters from George Stowits, one is called "general orders", one is called "general orders #66" and one is a "message to 24th corps from Major General John Gibbon."
Dr. Fredrick Barrett family papers
The collection consists of eight items: three letters from George M. Smith, general agent, Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railway; two letters from Mr. Ransom Metcalfe dated May 17, 1895 regarding the purchase of The Range; Duluth Boat Club family ticket, 1910; program booklet for the 4th Annual Bonspiel at Eveleth, Minnesota, 1923, and a program for the annual banquet of the Gilbert Curling Club, 1927.
Elizabeth Ann Bartlett Making Waves papers
Consists of Bartlett’s written histories of feminist organizations in Duluth and Superior that were not included in her book Making Waves (2016) and recorded interviews with women who played key roles in organizations that are included in the book.
Bayview Heights Community Club records
The collection contains minutes, constitution and by-laws, financial records, membership lists, and correspondence from 1930-1980. Club concerns and focuses include: utility problems, local celebrations, health issues, other community clubs, schools, and combating communism.
Bear River School, St. Louis County, School District No. 48, Morcom Township (Minn.) records
The collection contains a school district bond, 1905, contracts governing construction of the schoolhouse, 1906, school censuses, 1911-1915 and 1918, and a student classification register, 1916, from Bear River School in Morcom Township, Minnesota.

Joyce M. Benson papers
The collection contains delegate and information materials from the 1985 United Nations Women’s Conference in Nairobi, Kenya; a list of 1985-1986 talks and presentations given by Benson about the conference experience to named Duluth organizations; congratulations and thank you letters for speaking; and letters from Kenyan women. The collection also includes documents and newspaper clippings related to Benson's work as a women's rights activist.
