Abstract Papers of Velma (Hakkila) Doby (1923-2019) consist of materials on Finnish Americans and Finnish American life. Included are newspaper clippings concerning Finnish American scholars and also articles written by e.g. Michael Karni and Carl Ross; clippings concerning Finntowns, notorious Finnish Americans and Finnish Americans in general. Collection contains Velma Doby's thesis including her English translation of an autobiography by the Finnish American poet Helmi Mattson.

Abstract Vienna Laine's collection contains a scrapbook and photocopies of newspaper clippings from mainly American newspapers concentrating on the Winter War between Finland and Russia in 1939-1940. Also issues of "The Minneapolis Morning Tribune" and "Minneapolis Star-Journal" from December 1939 to February 1940. Some of the clippings pertain to Finnish Americans, chiefly to Finns in Minnesota. In addition, one book ("Suuri Taistelu Kristuksen ja saatanan valilla" by E. G. White) is included.
