1918 Forest Fire documents
This collection is intended to accommodate miscellaneous, primary documents related to the October 12, 13, 1918 Cloquet-Moose Lake forest fire and its aftermath when provenance or donor information about the material is unclear or not known.
Alworth family papers
The collection consists of two series: correspondence and photographs. This collection shows only a small segment of the Alworth family business.
Durant Barclay, Jr. industrial photographs
The collection consists of industrial photographs taken by the donor during the duration of his studio's operation in Virginia, Minnesota which closed in 1956. Mr. Barclay continued shooting for industrial clients through 1963.
Julius H. Barnes papers
The collection contains correspondence, financial materials, articles, pamphlets, photographs, news clippings, sketchbooks, a tape recording, and miscellaneous reference materials. Most of the records originate from the period between 1940-1958 and document Barnes' financial interests and his involvement in the St. Lawrence Seaway project. Some personal correspondence is also included.
Edward H. and Jennie V. Burger family papers
These family papers include letters between Edward Burger and Jennie Gabie before they married, family letters, young Ethel’s letters to “Papa”, references to Burger businesses “Burger & Myer Soaps”, “Burger & Burger Fuel and Feed”; a patent by Edward called Perfect Pencil Pockets; family photographs, and portrait photographs showing the three children from infancy to adulthood. Ethel Louise Burger Carrillo (1890-1963), or her family, had kept these papers.
Charles A. Curtis photograph collection
The collection consists primarily of black and white and color photographs by a photojournalist employed by a Duluth newspaper. The photographs are of the city of Duluth, events, people, as well as the northeast Minnesota area primarily from 1971, 1982-1990s; many are not dated and unidentified.
Franklin L. Cowen family photographs
The collection contains 8 photographs and the certificate of marriage for Frank L Cowen and Susan Bagley.
Duluth Business and Professional Women’s Club records
The collection contains: cashbook, publications, news clippings, yearbooks, photographs, and scrapbooks. Some scrapbooks contain photographs.
Duluth Chamber of Commerce records
The collection contains two minute books; news clippings, 1933-1971; correspondence, 1890-1986; articles of incorporation and by-laws, 1902; pamphlets; and photographs.
Duluth Downtown Restoration Proposal report
The collection consists of a four page report and one page cover letter, both dated April 1, 1966, and 26 black and white silver gelatin, 8x10, photographs. The photographs are of blocks and buildings between Michigan Street and Second Street, Mesabi Avenue to Third Ave. East.
Duluth Streets photograph collection
Black and white snapshots of Duluth street scenes, traffic, city buses, trucks, first street, downtown Duluth in winter, pedestrians, cars, buildings, children, Superior street, Woolworths, banks, store window displays, Railroad street, steam plant, etc. Some of these unidentified images have times of day noted: they may be court records.
Gallagher Studio photograph collection
The collection consists of identified and unidentified photographs of the Duluth area, with and without corresponding negatives, negatives without corresponding prints and post cards.
Goldfine family papers
The collection contains family and business papers, photographs, slides, one film, scrapbooks and photograph albums. The collection includes correspondence, legal documents, publications, minutes, photographs, financial reports, and news clippings for Goldfine's, Miller Furniture Company, Spirit Mountain Authority, Temple Israel, and the Goldfine family.
Elizabeth J. Goodsell slides
The collection consists of approximately 1,240 black and white and color slides of Duluth sites, views, events, and activities from 1955-1973.
Grand Rapids Herald Review newspaper photograph collection
The collection consists of portrait photographs by the Stitt Studio of Grand Rapids, Minnesota and newspaper negatives from the Grand Rapids Herald Review.
Richard L. Griggs papers
The papers have been grouped within the categories of family materials, business materials, community material, and scrapbooks, photographs, travel and safari items grouped together.
Robert U. Hagman papers
The collection contains company records, a small amount of Consolidated log rafting records: summary of operations, production reports, and tug and rafting information. It also holds snapshots and photographs, Hagman's research files, and his hand written drafts of an unpublished book on a general history of log rafting and log rafting by Consolidated Paper Company specifically.
Heimbach Family papers
The collection consists of three photographs and one business ledger. The photographs are a portrait of William P. Heimbach, one image of Duluth and Superior lumbermen at an outing at Namekan Lake Sept 5-7, 1919, the Virginia & Rainy Lake Co., and employees of the Endion Lumber Co, about 1920. The one volume ledger is from the Heimbach Lumber Company cover March through July, 1883.
Richard H. Hudelson labor history research collection
The collections contains research materials compiled to write Dr. Hudelson's book published by the University of Minnesota Press in 2006 titled By the Ore Docks: A Working People’s History of Duluth.

Karon family papers
The collection consists of seven albums containing family photographs, correspondence, and other documents related to the Robert Joseph and Ruth Helen Edelstein Karon family.
Marshall-Wells Company records
The collection consists of articles of incorporation, bylaws, annual reports (1940, 1946, 1948, 1954), titles, leases, deeds, stock certificates, financial statements; a list of salesmen (1953); annual roundup program; photograph of George Hill, John Howe, Sig Soberg (1957), and John Hutman; business letters; promotional material; product advertisements; John Patterson correspondence; a company history; and newspaper articles about the company.
Marvin Meierhoff photograph collection
The collection consists of six undated photographs, collected by Marvin Meierhoff. The photographs depict the Kelley-How-Thomson Company Building; Marshall-Wells Company Building; and Blake & Waite Company Building in Duluth, Minnesota.

The collection contains personal and financial correspondence, letterpress books, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, manuscripts written about local and family history, financial records, legal papers, maps, photographs, one audio cassette of an interview, and reference materials.
Michael and Diane Gallagher family papers
The collection contains a family photograph album/scrapbook, 1912-1988, 2002; a file of biographical information and 8x10 photographs about Annabelle Freeman Gallagher Thompson's career in marketing, service on the Duluth Arena-Auditorium Board, Woman of the Year award in 1969; Perry Gallagher's career until his retirement from photography in 1978.

Northwestern-Hanna Fuel Company records
The collection contains a photograph album, 1902 – 1953, showing the company’s docks, apparatus, and delivery methods The photographs document changes in technology in coal handling and also include trains, lake vessels, conveyors, land transportation, coal handling in the yard, a 1914 hydraulic dump truck. The collection includes two loose photographs of their local storefronts in Duluth and Superior, price cards, 1880 – 1916, and a newsletter to company employees.
Red Cliff Lumber Company photograph album
The album is a nearly day-by-day visual log of new construction of a mill at the Duluth waterfront, presumably at 39th Avenue West.
Rotary Club of Duluth records
The collection contains the membership lists, programs and conference materials, by-laws, and a brief history of the Duluth Rotary Club (1964), and ephemera.
