Duluth Civilian Defense Council records
The collection contains correspondence, bulletins, publications, news clippings, scrapbooks, photographs, posters, personnel lists, and other reference materials from the war activities of the organization. The records were collected from a variety of sources, such as the Duluth Public Library, the War History Division of the Duluth Civilian Defense Council, and individuals. Parts of the collection, therefore, are sporadic and incomplete.
Duluth Health Department records
The collection contains minutes of the Duluth Board of Health (4/18/1873-1908) with no index, correspondence, a scrapbook containing sample forms used by the department, quarantine signs, an analysis of vital statistics (1900-1937), infant mortality report (1948-1957), a report on a compulsory submission tuberculosis report (1938), and distribution of death reports (1948-1953).
Duluth Homestead Project records
Contains correspondence from the government regarding the Homestead Project, papers covering the incorporation of the association in 1939, a complete set of minutes of the association, financial records of the association, the refinancing of the association, and the association’s dissolution in 1954. Also included are papers on the development of the locker plant and community store and the association’s contribution to the Hermantown School.
Duluth Metropolitan Recycling Center records
This collection contains articles of incorporation and by-laws, board minutes, correspondence, financial papers, and news clippings.
Duluth Music Teachers Association records
The collection contains minutes, 1916-1958, 1963-1987; financial materials; scrapbooks, 1951-1972; and some correspondence. Included is a ledger containing the minutes of the piano Teacher's Round Table, 1924-1929.
Duluth Ski Club records
The records contain the club minutes, financial reports, constitution and bylaws, correspondence, and other printed matter pertaining to specific events and tournaments. Also included are a large number of photographs and negatives of the jumpers, ski events, spectators, and other events.
Duluth-Superior Chapter American-Scandinavian Foundation records
The collection consists of minutes, programs announcements, news releases, news clippings, membership lists, Bylaws and Constitution.
Duluth-Superior Symphony Association records
The collection contains correspondence, minutes, financial records, publicity materials, news clippings and programs.
Duluth-Superior Transit Company records
The collection contains minutes, financial books, annual reports, publications, maps, miscellaneous correspondence, news clippings, photographs, timetables, and microfilmed scrapbooks. Financial records represent the largest portion of records, and there is a significant lack of executive records.
Duluth Water and Light Board records
The collection contains minutes, regulations and by-laws, Manager Reports, correspondence, contracts and proposed contracts, reports to the Duluth City Council, news clippings, circulars, and a history of the Duluth, Minnesota Gas and Water Plants, 1892-1904.
Duluth Welfare Council records
The collection contains administrative records, committee records, and financial records.
Duluth Winter Frolic
The collection contains correspondence, press releases, newspaper clippings, programs, ephemera, and photographs from the annual Winter Frolic event. Some of the photographs were taken by photographer Hugh McKenzie.
Duluth’s Women’s Republican Club records
The collection consists of minutes, correspondence, reports, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, and campaign literature.
Elbert L. Carpenter Collection of Minnesota Orchestra

Included are also boardinghouse, household, and farm records of a Finnish-American family who lived in the Markham/Makinen/Aurora areas of northeastern Minnesota. Income/Expenses records spanning 1920s-1980s.
