Records of the department document efforts to develop among churches a sensitive approach to the social welfare field and to provide leadership for individual church members entering the social work profession. Included are records of committees, of relations with other organizations, of conferences to study specific issues, and of efforts to develop position statements. Originals remain with the National Council of Churches.
