Abstract

The collection consists of the papers of the Faculty Advisory Committee on Women. It contains correspondence, newsletters and meeting agendas. The papers also contain the legal documentation of the Rajender Consent Decree and information concerning the Decree's legal and social ramifications at the University of Minnesota.

Abstract The Laura J. Cooper papers document Cooper’s work towards gender equity at the University of Minnesota and in the legal field as well as her scholarship in labor law. Cooper accrued the items in this collection through her involvement with the implementation of the Rajender Consent Decree at the University, her research in labor law, her studies of gender fairness in the courts, and other activities she undertook at the University of Minnesota Law School. The collection was created by Social Welfare History Archives staff member, Wendy Larson. The files contain print materials, ephemera, publications, correspondence, posters, and promotional literature related to women's issues. Topics include: feminist organizations and causes, careers for women, self-defense, feminist arts, education and others.

The collection contains material collected by Tina Welsh in the course of her work with the Women’s Health Center and the Building for Women in Duluth, Minnesota. The materials were intended to document the history of those two projects.
