From 1973 to 1975, the University of Minnesota's Center for Youth Development and Research conducted a study on the "needs, concerns, and aspirations" of adolescent girls. Dr. Gisela Konopka of the University of Minnesota was the project director. Ultimately, nearly one thousand adolescent girls in the United States and Puerto Rico were interviewed.
