Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway Computerized Car Identification System training film and audiotape

Scope and Contents The Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railroad developed a computerized method of counting and inventorying cars and cargo in its operations. This system was unique to this company and its home ground of northeastern Minnesota. The method of placing computer readable stripping on the railroad cars is now used nation wide.

The collection consists of a training film and reel to reel audiotape from 1958.

The Four Seasons film

Scope and Contents The collection consists of one reel of color, standard 8mm film, 30 minutes in length. The film shows various scenes around Duluth, Minnesota during different seasons. Images include the St. Louis River, the Aerial Lift Bridge, and the Incline Railway operating on its last day of service in 1939. The film is in fairly good condition with a few scratches throughout.
