The Baldwin Flats are located at 711 – 715 West Second Street, Duluth, Minnesota, built in 1891 – 92. The thirteen prints comprising this collection were copied from a photograph album loaned to the St. Louis County Historical Society, the copy prints and negatives were then transferred to the Center. The prints show the exterior and interior of the building. The apartments shown are of Mr. and Mrs. John Abbott and Mr. And Mrs. Albert E. Botsford. The prints were not dated but R.L. Polk Duluth...

The collection consists of photographs by Caswell & Davy. The photographs are of Superior Street from 1st or 2nd Avenue West, looking east up the hill and down toward the water; also, there is a photograph of the steamer "Arizona" from 1868. The condition of the photographs vary. Some are faded black and white albumen prints, stained, with rough, tattered edges and some are in excellent condition. No negatives are present.

These materials are copies typed from the original in 1924 by the St. Louis County Historical Society. They were lent to the Society by L.A. Marvin, most likely the Luke Marvin who appears in the documents as Duluth Assessor and a notary public.

The collection consists of one videotape. Bob Baldwin of the local chapter of the NAACP officiated at the dedication and arranged for the proceedings to be taped. The video, entitled Deterred but not Defeated, contains a documentary filmed at Park Hill Cemetery where stones were placed to acknowledge the victims of the 1920 lynchings in Duluth. The color video was produced in 1991. It includes television coverage from WCCO (Minneapolis) and Duluth news broadcasts.
