Charles A. Curtis photograph collection
The collection consists primarily of black and white and color photographs by a photojournalist employed by a Duluth newspaper. The photographs are of the city of Duluth, events, people, as well as the northeast Minnesota area primarily from 1971, 1982-1990s; many are not dated and unidentified.
Coalition to Stop the Des Moines records
The collection consists of the records, letters, news coverage, editorials, and other written materials generated by the group to inform and persuade people to their point of view or in response to the Coalition and local points of view. The collection also contains 29 over sized rally posters.
Cook County Historical Society oral history recordings
The collection consists of copies of interviews and conversations recorded by the Cook County Historical Society.

The collection contains correspondence, diaries, articles and addresses written by Darling, a subject file, personal financial materials, news clippings, photographs, and engineering plans.

The collection consists of approximately 1,240 black and white and color slides of Duluth sites, views, events, and activities from 1955-1973.
Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Tidewater Association records
The collection contains correspondence, pamphlets, publications, minutes, press releases, one photograph, newspaper clippings, articles, maps and miscellaneous reference materials. The records reflect the organic history of the Association and the history of the entire Seaway movement from the establishment of the Association to its demise in 1939.
John C. Green papers
The collection consists of correspondence; reports; files on conferences, meetings, and workshops; subject research files; tape recordings of a public meeting and a symposium; and publications relating to the All University Council on Environmental Quality, the Minerals Subcommittee of the Natural Resources Advisory Council, AMAX Exploration's MINNAMAX Exploration Project and base metals mining.
Robert U. Hagman papers
The collection contains company records, a small amount of Consolidated log rafting records: summary of operations, production reports, and tug and rafting information. It also holds snapshots and photographs, Hagman's research files, and his hand written drafts of an unpublished book on a general history of log rafting and log rafting by Consolidated Paper Company specifically.
Sherman Hall letters
The collection contains photocopies of letters written by Hall. The originals are located at the Minnesota Historical Society, St. Paul, Minnesota.
William H. Hearding journal
The collection consists of Hearding's journal containing copies of letters, reports, statistical data, and similar information relating to his career, including surveys of the Great Lakes.
History of Western Lake Superior Sanitary District oral history project
This project recorded the memories and experiences of early employees, board members, and community leaders involved in the establishment and start-up of the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) in Duluth, Minnesota. Fifteen narrators participated.
Arlene Lehto papers
The collection contains documents from the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission, the Great Lakes Basin Commission, and the Save Lake Superior Association. Also included are Lehto’s legislative papers, subject files, and publications.
Alden Lind papers
This collection contains reports, correspondence, court materials and exhibits related to the Reserve Mining Company controversy over the company’s policy of discharging taconite tailings into Lake Superior.

The map collection contains maps of the United States and Canada, the Midwest Area, Great Lakes, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and more detailed maps of the counties, towns, mines, etc.
Sverre Mathisen papers [microfilm]
Consists of one reel of microfilmed copies of Sverre Mathisen's papers. The papers consist of correspondence and miscellaneous papers and financial records of two Lutsen, Minnesota residents, Sverre Mathisen and Sevold Rise, who were partners in a commercial fishing operation along the North Shore of Lake Superior.
McDougall-Duluth Shipbuilding Company records
The collection consists of one record of the McDougall-Duluth Shipbuilding Company.
Harvey Miller photograph collection
The collection contains photographs albums which depict Lake Superior Ships, docks, passenger ships, shipwrecks and ship buildings. Photographs in the collection were collected by Harvey Miller.
Minnesota Coastal Zone Management Program records
The collection contains Coastal Zone Management Program Policy Advisory Committee minutes and various statements issued by the Minnesota State Planning Agency pertaining to Coastal Zone Management.

North Shore Commercial Fishing oral history interviews
Contains interviews with ten participants, documenting the history of commercial fishing on Lake Superior's North Shore. The interviewees are individuals who themselves, or whose families, engaged in commercial fishing in this region. The interviewer is Barbara Sommer.
Thomas Peck photograph collection
The collection consists of Thomas Peck’s prints of the Duluth area and scenes of winter, smelt fishing, and Split Rock Lighthouse, the shore of Lake Superior and other unidentified “nature” scenes.
John T. Pegors papers
The collection holds subject files that reflect Pegor’s participation, focus, or concern. Biographical materials include Donna W. Pegors, retired (1989) University of Minnesota Duluth music professor. The subjects are arranged alphabetically.
Red Cliff Lumber Company photograph album
The album is a nearly day-by-day visual log of new construction of a mill at the Duluth waterfront, presumably at 39th Avenue West.
Halvor Reiten oral history interview
Consists of an audio recording and a transcript of an interview with Halvor Reiten, a commercial fisherman on Lake Superior. The interview was conducted by Geoffrey Pope and Bob Bruce and took place in 1976.
Reserve Mining Legal Case records
The collection contains legal correspondence, testimony, briefs, transcripts, reports, and exhibits dealing with the various legal trials.
Hjalmer C. Rykken photographs
The collection consists of black and white photographs by Hjalmer C. Rykken amateur but experienced photographer, that were made between October 1958 and July 1962. Content of the photographs includes: streets, views of Lake Superior, Central High School, Fire Hall, the Hibbard Plant, Lakefront, the First Presbyterian Church, Elliott Packing Co., Park Point, and Rail Road tracks.
Save Lake Superior Association records
The collection contains articles of incorporation; bylaws; annual meeting materials; minutes; correspondence; financial materials; news releases; resolutions; issue files on topics such as acid rain, conservation, harbor refuge, etc.; some Reserve Mining case exhibits; scrapbooks; bumper stickers; and an oral history project.
