This collection contains glass plate negatives and photographic prints collected by Dr. Gillespie. Images include doctors, clinics, hospitals, nurses, the St. Louis County Medical Society, and early scenes of Duluth, Minnesota.

The prints are arranged in folders and identified by Mesabi, Vermilion, or unidentified ranges on the folder but some of the individual prints have more specific mine information on their reverse side: Adams Pit and headframe, Susquehanna mine, Hull-Rust-Mahoning mine, Cloquet mine, Auburn mine, Goodwins’ Iron Claim near Ely, Stephans mine.
Portraits 1870-1890
The collection consists of 10 black and white photographic portraits of men between 1865-1890, possibly some are Civil War veterans.
